NEW CREATION NEWS – MARCH 2018
The shop has been quiet since Christmas but, Praise the Lord, trading and donations at the end of 2017 meant that we were able to balance our books and start the New Year with confidence.
At our recent Trustees Meeting we welcomed a new member, Mr. Cliff Bailey, from Tidcombe Community Church. He has a real heart for this ministry and has been organising our donated pre-loved books for some time. This means that within the Trustees we have members from the Anglican Communion, the Baptist Union, the United Reformed Church, the Police Chaplaincy and the Free Church movement. They endeavour to keep New Creation true to the Lord's Word as well as overseeing the outreach of the Trust, the finances and the state of the building. Our Trustees, staff and volunteers come from a wide area, including East Budleigh, Thorverton, Cadeleigh, Loxbeare, Bampton, Sampford Peverell and Uffculme, as well as Tiverton itself. We are very grateful to them and for all for your prayers, help and support. New Creation is here to encourage you in your efforts to tell others about the Lord so please come in and sow into this work and make it your own. (If you'd like to help you will be very welcome!)
Easter is coming!
But first there is Mothering Sunday on March 11th, and we have a range of lovely cards, all carrying a verse of scripture or other words of encouragement.
Then at the beginning of April, the 1st, is Easter Sunday – a time to celebrate our risen Lord; we have a wide range of Easter cards in the shop for you to choose from. Easter cards and books are available throughout the month: this is such an important opportunity for us as Christians to share the Good News with our friends and family.
Fairtrade Fortnight – 26th February to 11th March
When reading how lives are changed by Traidcraft partnering it encourages us to use what we can in the café (e.g. coffee, tea, sugar, jam), and for our personal use (toilet rolls, kitchen rolls and paper tissues all made from recycled paper). If you want to give Easter Eggs we stock those as well. The Real Easter Egg is supplied by Traidcraft and made using fairly traded chocolate. Each egg comes with a free Easter Story booklet and a portion of the price includes a charitable donation. They are the first and only chocolate Easter Eggs to mention Jesus and the events of Holy Week. All sales will benefit people in this country and overseas.
After Easter, look out for our new menu! Penny is hoping to include some new dishes for the Summer Season so come in and try them out. One church home-group is coming in for lunch on a monthly basis – is this something your home-group could do? Or perhaps come for a supper evening? Have a word with Penny or Val.
